The job market is strong for technicians in the areas of air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration (also known as HVAC). This could be your area if you have mechanical skills as well as an interest in technology. Technicians are involved in a number of areas including design, sales, installation, maintenance, and service of commercial heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. In today s environment, special attention is also paid to air quality issues, energy conservation, and computerized temperature control. You will learn how to determine the best heating and cooling system for a particular environment, how to gain maximum efficiency from that system, and troubleshooting. In addition to classroom instruction, learning will take place in Western s heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, and installation labs. You will shadow a technician and may also intern at a local business for valuable real-world experience. Show More
